Today in Egypt social research and independent information is too risky of an enterprise. These fields are considered dangerous by the al Sisi government, since the reality that comes through is a far cry from the official narrative, revealing the unsaid: directed arrests, media censorship, and forced disappearances. What should be a normal application of the right of expression and the manifestation of thought, in Egypt has become a form of resistance. For this reason it is of utmost importance to publish in segments a dossier dedicated to the Italian researcher, Giulio Regeni, whose voice had evidently become too uncomfortable.

A purpose not so far from what Giulio Regeni strove for in his work in social research; according to the people who really knew him, this is what his parents tell. |
